As a guide: congenital surgery (e.g. cleft lip, hypospadias) is 5 to 14 days inpatient plus a review period; NICU care for premature infants is weeks to months depending on gestational age and clinical stability; developmental assessment is 1 to 3 outpatient visits; cranial remodelling programme involves a fitting visit plus regular outpatient reviews over several weeks; paediatric respiratory or ENT procedures are often outpatient or a short inpatient stay.
