Air travel and major surgery both raise the risk of a blood clot. Your surgeon sets your flight date, so we recommend asking each clinic for it in writing.

The FCDO says it is aware of 7 British nationals who died in Turkey in 2025 following medical procedures.
Others needed further treatment after complications. It advises you to discuss your plans with your UK doctor and to do your own research.
The FCDO also notes that private companies have a financial interest in booking treatment, so their literature should not be your only source.
